Touring the United Kingdom by car can be a rewarding and exciting experience, there are just so many diverse things you can see and do. From the Scottish Highlands with their dramatic landscape and long history, to the world class nightlife to be found in big cities such as London, Manchester and Birmingham. Hiring a car in the UK is easy as a whole range of international and local rental firms are easy to locate in every city such as Avis, Europacar, Budget and Hertz. The UK is gifted with a very good road network, with major highways (motorways) leading to all areas of the country. Almost every major city in the UK (and many smaller ones) has access to one or more local international airport. London alone has easy access to five airports, London Heathrow, London Gatwick, London City, Stanstead Airport and Luton Airport. Pick up and drop off locations can usually be arranged anywhere within the UK, making it a great option for a fly-drive destination. Car hire in the United Kingdom can be relatively inexpensive, although fuel costs are higher than many other places in Europe. Do not forget that drivers in the UK drive on the left hand side of the road, this can take a little getting used to if you are from a nation where the right hand side of the road is the norm.
